Julius L. Branscome, of Woodbridge, departed an impactful life on November 12, 2023, and spent the last few years of his life helping to care for the love of his life, Lila. Julius passed peacefully attended by his son and grandson. In the last several days of his life his son David did not leave his side.

Julius was born September 26, 1933 in Carroll County, Virginia at the foot of the Buffalo Mountain. On Nov. 18, 1950 he married Lila Brady. Julius moved to Prince William County in 1960 and settled there to provide a home base for his family. After starting a sole proprietorship, he formed Julius Branscome, Inc. in 1973 and Branscome Paving Company in 1988.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Lila Brady Branscome, daughter Kathy Bowman (Wilson), son David Branscome (Pati), and his 7 grandchildren, Jamie Bowman, Vickie Bowman, David Branscome, Jr. (Shalia), Rachael Murphy (JC), Cory Branscome (Sabrina), Brent Branscome (Rachel), Brandi Nadeau (Matt), and his 15 cherished great grandchildren, and his 3 great-great grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.

Preceding Julius were his son Tommy Branscome, his parents, Grover Samuel Branscome and Cosby Goad Branscome, his sister Violet Nester, and his brothers, Henry, Robert and James Branscome.

Julius' life will be celebrated with a viewing this Friday from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM with a 2:00 PM funeral service immediately following at Park Valley Church, 4500 Waverly Farm Dr, Haymarket, VA 20169. (3 miles North of I-66 at the US 15 exit 40) All are welcome.

A visitation will also be held on Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 1:00 until 2:30 PM at Bluemont Presbyterian Church located off the Blue Ridge Parkway at 47 Bluemont Lane, Hillsville, VA 24343.  A celebration of life service will begin at 2:30 in the church with Pastor Gary Horton officiating.  Burial will then follow in the Bluemont Cemetery.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family locally.
