Joyce Ann Vass Hodges died peacefully at home on, Monday, September 20, 2021 at the age of seventy-nine. She was a dedicated servant of Christ, a loving mother and grandmother, devoted sister and daughter. She was a singer, poet, and artist; as well as an amazing caregiver, expert organizer, and gracious hostess. She will be missed by so many.

Joyce was a graduate of Hillsville High School, Class of 1960, and a graduate of the Roanoke Memorial School of Nursing. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Wade F. Hodges. She is survived by her four children and two grandchildren: Danny (Melanie) Hodges and their children, Josiah and Bethany; Tara Hodges; Aleta (Ronnie) Leftwich; and Amber (Brian) Woodford. Other close surviving family members are her brother-in-law, Allan Temple, and many nieces and nephews.

The Hodges family would also like to recognize Joyce's in-home caregivers: Lisa Conner, Katie Huntress, Ashlee Musgrove, and Chris Musgrove. They have been a blessing to the entire family and created a loving environment that allowed Joyce to remain at home for the last few years and pass away in her own bed.

The family will receive visitors at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel on Sunday, September 26, 2021 from 3-5 pm, and at the Belvedere Pavilion at Sherwood Memorial Park on Monday, September 27, 2021 from 1-2 pm. The Funeral Service will immediately follow at 2 pm, at the Belvedere Pavilion at Sherwood Memorial Park with Pastor Dolph Painter and Co-Celebrant Elder Thomas Mann officiating.
