Joseph Coultrane Nester, 74 of Hillsville, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Mr. Nester was born in Carroll County to the late James Sanders and Ola Pauline Horton Nester. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Nanette Marshall and his brothers, Charlie and James Ray Nester.

Mr. Nester is survived by his daughters, Christine Mendez Guzman and husband, Onesimo of Hillsville, and Cathy Newman of Galax. He is also survived by his Grandchildren, Manuel Mendez Guzman, Matthew Mendez Guzman, Sarah Mendez Guzman, Kenny Newman, Michael Jefferson, Leigh Ann Marshall and Kenzie Marshall. Four great-grandchildren and brother, Jason Nester of Hillsville.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. at the James Gardner Family Cemetery with Pastor Mike Wells officiating. There will be no public visitation.
