Joseph Ford Bowman, Sr., 87, of Dublin, VA passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Lee Bowman; parents, Jesse Joseph and Sirrether Irene Lewis Bowman; and brother, John E. Bowman. Survivors include his daughter, Judy Anne Turner of Dublin; sons and daughter-in-law, Joe Ford Bowman, Jr., of Dublin, and Lee and Toni Bowman of Dublin; seven grandchildren, Jesse Bowman, Kristina Davis, Daniel Bowman, David Bowman, Casey Turner, Timothy Shane Turner and Hope Turner; thirteen great grandchildren; special family friend, Joyce Bowman. The family would also like to express a special thanks to Joe's friend and caregiver, Kolina Dorton and a special thanks to Southern Care Hospice. Joseph was a graduate of National Business College. He was a member of Belspring United Methodist Church and was a member of the Henry Clay Masonic Lodge #0280 for 50 years. Mr. Bowman's hobbies included farming, Masonic Lodge activities, traveling, church activities, bicycling into his 70's, swimming, fishing, and hunting. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Dr. Lawrence Childs officiating. Burial will follow in the Gladesboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, March 9, 2014 from 1:00 PM until time of the funeral service.
