"When a great man dies, for years the light he leaves behind him, lies on the paths of men." Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Terry Hall, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who left this world peacefully in his home on October 18, 2026. Born on October 31, 1961, in Mt. Airy, North Carolina, Terry was a beacon of strength and kindness, whose legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Terry was the cherished son of the late Walter Jefferson and Christine Hall, as well as his mother, Gladys Mae Norman (surviving), whose loving guidance shaped the remarkable man he became. Predeceased by his parents and his brother Lewis Ray Hall, Terry is now reunited with them in eternal rest. He also joins his wife, Glenda Easter Hall, and father-in-law, Larry David Keith, in the embrace of the heavens.
Terry leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by his loving wife, Deborah Keith Hall, and his son, John Derek Hall. He is also mourned by his brothers, Tim and Donna Gail Melton, Barry and Nancy Melton, and Ricky Hall. Terry is also survived by his sisters, Penny and Clifford Cain, and Gail and Mark Edwards. His family extended further with his step-children, Josh and Amy Edwards, and Alicia and Greg Testerman, alongside numerous adoring nieces, nephews, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A man of the great outdoors, Terry found peace and joy in nature, whether casting a line or waiting patiently in the woods for the next deer to come by. His love for hunting and fishing was surpassed only by his love for his family. Known for his hard-working spirit and resilient nature, Terry was admired for his kind, strong heart, and guiding wisdom. Terry possessed a unique blend of loving warmth and stern guidance, which he generously offered to those in need.
Terry’s life was a testament to the strength found in love and the beauty of living fully. His memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him. In accordance with his wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor his life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Terry’s memory, celebrating the spirit of giving that he embodied throughout his life.
John Terry Hall will be profoundly missed but never forgotten. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched, a testament to a life well-lived and a soul deeply cherished.
