John Pete (J.P.) Goad, 83, of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at his home. Mr. Goad was born in Hillsville to the late William Benjamin and Mattie Sue Webb Goad. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Anna Frances Goad. Survivors include his children and spouses, Donald Goad of Hillsville, Eva and Roger Easter of Hillsville, Jerry Goad of Austinville, and Tracy and Eddie Goad of Austinville; brother and sister-in-law, Berlie and Remone Goad of Galax; grandchildren, Kim Rippey, Michael Easter, Kelly Goad, Rebecca Goad, C.J. Goad, and Colby Goad; great grandchildren, Faith Padgett, Nathan Easter, and Jayden Royal. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Elder Edward Bowman officiating. Burial follow in the New Hope Cemetery. Military rites will conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, December 20, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
