John Michael "Mikey" Johnson, 49, of Hillsville, beloved son of Gus and Mary Johnson, died on November 30, 2017. Mickey was born at the Naval Hospital on the Marine Corps Base, Camp LeJeune, NC on March 5, 1968. Mikey informed everyone that he was a Marine and a Tarheel. Mikey attended school in Florida and worked at IDC. He is preceded in death by his brother, Mark William Johnson; uncles, Tommy E. Dickerson and Nick Johnson; maternal grandparents, Fame and Harry Dickerson; paternal grandparents, Henry and Kansas Johnson; and special friends, Evelyn Whitaker and Marion Iroler.

Mikey's life was rich due to the love and care he received from his Mom and step father, John Chalkley, his Dad and step mother, Ali Johnson, his aunts, Nevada Martin, Harrietta Jones and Dollie Johnson and also, Pat Marshall, Shannon Shupe, Crystal Nester, Jeanie Allison, Sabrina McPherson and the Mt. Rogers Staff. In addition to his parents, aunts, and caregivers, Mikey is also survived by many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Thanks to the Mountain Valley Hospice for his end of life care. Mikey will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Donnie Hooker officiating. Burial will follow in the Tom Alderman Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
