John Rubin Edwards, 95 of Woodlawn, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Wythe County Community Hospital. Mr. Edwards was born in Carroll County on October 5, 1915 to the late Riley Andrew & Emma Hundley Edwards. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Edith Rausey Jennings Edwards; brothers, Clifton, Glenn, Oscar; sisters, Blanche Coleman, Betty Burcham, Irene Akers, Mae Edwards, Nora Dalton. He is survived by his children & spouses Shirley & Wade Chitty of Pittsburg, PA. Wayne & Louise Edwards of Max Meadows, Alfred & Shirley Edwards of Blacksburg, Jean & Bob Dion of Woodlawn, Velma & Dallas Reed of Wytheville, and Janet & Scott Guy of Charleston, SC; brother & sister-in-law Lewis & Bonnie Edwards; ten grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Mike Ingo and Rev. Don Scott officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, where Masonic rites will be he held by Hillsville Masonic Lodge #193 AF & AM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGardy Chapel is serving the family.
