John Albert Chalkley, Jr. ,88, of Hillsville, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at his home. Mr. Chalkley was born in Richmond, Virginia to the late John Albert Chalkley, Sr. and Lillie Gladys (Long) Chalkley. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughters, Karen Jean Chalkley and Marilyn Hart; granddaughter, Tina Marie DeBrock; grandson, Joseph Hart; and sister, Imogene (Chalkley) Mangham.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Francis (Johnson) Chalkley; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jerry Lonneville; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Dean and Linda Chalkley; grandchildren, Christina Hart, Amy Hart, Ronnie Chalkley, Heather Chalkley, James Lonneville, Jennifer Crane, Roger Caruthers, and Carrie Taylor; great-grandchildren, Jamie Lonneville, Kelsey Lonneville, Jeffrey Crane, Sarah Crane, Elizabeth Caruthers, Zachary Caruthers, Sydney Hart, Cadence Hart, John Chalkley, Wyatt Chalkley, Colton Chalkley, and Boone Chalkley; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Dwight Flowers; and special family members and friends, Nevada and Wade Martin and family, Harrietta Dickerson Jones, Jamie Lou Johnson, and Dollie and Bill Johnson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Carl Forrester officiating. Burial will follow in the Tom Alderman Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
