John Leon Brooks, Jr., 75 of Hillsville passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Carrington Place in Wytheville, VA. He was preceded in death by his father, John Leon Brooks, Sr.; mother, Bessie Irene Manley Brooks.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Helen Brooks of the home; daughters and sons-in-laws, Sherry Lynn and Ronald Moser of Hillsville, and Linda Irene and James Durnil of Hillsville; son, Richard Wayne Brooks, Sr. of Hillsville; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Larry and Phyllis Brooks of Lebanon, Dan and Carolyn Brooks of Hillsville, Bob Brooks of Hillsville, Bill Brooks of Hillsville, and Dave and Dee Brooks of Hillsville; sister and brother-in-law, Jayne and Henry Carpenter of Hillsville; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Larry Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in the Brooks Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the Brooks family.
