****THIS IS A COURTESY ANNOUNCEMENT**** Joe Lewye Rife, age 75 of Hillsville, Virginia passed away on Monday, December 8, 2014 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born in Jewell Ridge, Virginia and was the son of the late, Joseph Edward and Elizabeth Alice Day Rife. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Newton Rife. Those who survive him are his wife, Gladys Lambert Rife of Hillsville, VA; daughters, Charlotte Hunt and husband Ken of Cana, VA, Minnie L. Sparks of Hillsville, VA, and Elizabeth R. Park of Hillsville, VA; son, Clarence Rife of Hillsville, VA; brothers, David Rife and wife Rita of Marble, NC, Tony Rife and Dora Rife of Woodlawn, VA, McGinnis Rife and wife Sharon of Richlands, VA, Miles Rife and wife, Kathy of Jewell Ridge, VA, and Lonnie Rife and wife, Shirley of Whitewood, VA; sisters, Eloise Cooper of Galax, VA, Bernice Ledbetter of Jewell Ridge, VA, Anita Cicala of LaPlata, MA, Daris Ruscio and husband, Amir of Woodlawn, VA, and Dinah Foley of Galax, VA; several nieces and nephews that he loved dearly; and special friends, Vinton and Leona Smythers. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
