Jimmy Dean (JD) Coulson, 76, of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC. Mr. Coulson was born in Carroll County to the late Homer Samuel and Gertrude Sharp Coulson. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Renae Coulson of Hillsville; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and David Riccio of Mount Airy, NC; foster sons and spouse, Orville and Annette Holt of Dugspur and Ellis Schrader of Fredericksburg, VA; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Fred Honaker of Pinnacle, NC; grandchildren, Brian Riccio, Jessica Coulson and fiancé Curtis Martin, Crystal Riccio, and Kelly and Nic Moser; foster grandchild, Rusty Holt; great-grandchildren, Colby Riccio, Elijah Martin, Trenton Poe, Kylee Martin, and Kailah Thomas; foster great granddaughter, Jaylyn Holt; and special friend, Mary Coulson. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Coulson Church of the Brethren at 2:00 PM with Pastor Russell Payne and Pastor Harry Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the Coulson Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
