Jimmy Lee Horton, 75 of Winston Salem, NC, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023 at his home. Mr. Horton was born in Galax, VA on October 27, 1947. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorene Horton; grandparents, Henry and Geneva Horton; uncles, Swanson Horton (Ossie) and Elton Horton; and aunts, Lila Webb (Eldon) and Oleta Jones (Paul).

Jimmy was a graduate of Hillsville High School in 1965 and of Wake Forest University in 1969. After a brief career in teaching, he went on to a career in accounting at Westinghouse and RJR until his retirement. In retirement he enjoyed walking with friends, shopping at thrift stores, and traveling with his cousins. He was a member of Fancy Gap United Methodist Church and also enjoyed attending Blue Ridge Chapel Baptist Church with family. Jimmy had a love for music and was a member of the High School Band. He was also an accomplished pianist and often shared his talent at church.

Survivors include his aunt, Kathryn Horton; special cousins, Debbie Ayers (Shirley), Cindy Jackson (Tom), Pam Horton-Stuart (Rick), Mark Horton (Clara), and Steve Horton; and special (doughnut) friend, Chase Isaacs.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Paul Perkins and Rev. David Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Webb Skyview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Flowers are appreciated; however, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Webb-Skyview Cemetery. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
