Obituary

Jesse James Smith, 60 of Max Meadows, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Wytheville Community Hospital. Mr. Smith was born in Wythe County to the late Charlie James & Blanche Kimberlin Smith. He is survived by his wife Dixie Smith of the home; daughter & son-in-law Amanda Serrano & Luis Lopes of Max Meadows; grandchildren Jasmine Marie Smith and Brian Santiago; brothers & sisters-in-law John & Betty Smith of Pulaski, Harloe Smith of Max Meadows, Dean & Debbie Smith of Speedwell, Charlie James, Jr. & Janie Smith of Pulaski, and David Smith of Pulaski; sisters Lois McAllister of Wytheville and Lorie Pulliam of Staunton, VA; mother-in-law Hazel Roberts of Allisonia; sister-in-law & spouse Spring & Jeff Akers of Allisonia; and brother-in-law Roy Eugene Roberts, Jr. of Allisonia.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Dry Pond Primitive Baptist Church at 1:30 PM with Pastor Mike Hall, Elder Reuben Hawks, and Pastor Randall Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Dry Pond Cemetery. Mr. Smith will lie in state at the church on Saturday 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Friday, September 18, 2009 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM.
