It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jerry Roderick Martin on September 19, 2024, in Broomfield, CO. Born on October 28, 1938, Jerry's memory is cherished by his loving wife of 58 years, Linda Kay Quesinberry, and their three children: Eric Martin and his wife Jennifer, Melissa DeAndrea and her husband Jay, and Tiffany Peterson and her husband John. He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: Brenna, Devan, Jackson, Brooks, Emma, Grace, Kyler and Luke. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Gary Quesinberry and his wife Brenda; and sisters-in-law Maxine Martin, Nevada Martin, and Sarah Quesinberry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Terry & Ora Martin; his brothers, Barnard Martin, Ernest Martin, John Martin, and Wade Martin; and his sister, Imogene Martin Barnes.
Jerry was a beacon of positivity and a firm believer in the unlimited potential of everyone he encountered. He had a remarkable gift for seeing the good in people, always encouraging those he loved to embrace their creativity and passions. Jerry often reminded his family that they were all "Children of the Universe," a sentiment that echoed throughout his life and shaped the values he instilled in his children and grandchildren.
Jerry's creativity flourished in every aspect of his life. He was an accomplished problem solver and a passionate explorer of ideas and enjoyed connecting with those he loved discussing and sharing new-found knowledge. Whether crafting leaf racers with the grandkids or whipping up his famous jellybean omelets, Jerry infused joy and imagination into everyday moments.
He found solace in nature, often taking his grandchildren to a nearby pond, where he taught the art of skipping stones and encouraged everyone to pause and appreciate the beauty around them. Jerry understood the importance of inner peace and guided others to discover their passions.
Known affectionately as "Mr. Corn Hole," Jerry was never one to shy away from a little friendly competition. His playful demeanor and infectious smile brought joy to gatherings, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Jerry's love was felt in every hug and every encouraging word. Jerry and Kay created a comforting home filled with warmth and support, where family and friends gathered to share their lives. His legacy of love, creativity, and connection will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A celebration of life service will be held at Rundus Broomfield Funeral Home in Broomfield, CO on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hillsville Presbyterian Food Pantry .
