Jerry Ray Bronson Long, 80, of Hillsville, Virginia, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Twin County Regional Hospital. He was born on February 7, 1942.  He was predeceased by his parents, Garland E Sr. and Chrystel Long, grandparents, E. M. Sr. and Mable Long, Herschell and Evelyn Daniels, an infant sister, Judy Garland Long, and a brother, Glenn Edward Long, 2 granddaughters, Kelly Ann Goodnoh and Cassandra Lauren Bolen.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Karen Remillard Long of the home, daughters Anne Margaret and William (Champ) Henry of Falls Church, VA, Beth S. and Jennifer Wolfsong of Beaverton, Oregon, and Chrystel and David Wright of Hillsville, Va, 1 son, Keith W. and Mindy Long, also of Hillsville, VA. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, and an "almost like a daughter", Wendy Chapman of Dayton, Ohio. Two sisters and 4 brothers, and a host of friends and relatives also survive.

Jerry was a retired Baptist minister, and truck driver, employed by Camrett Logistics in Dublin, hauling parts to Volvo. He was also a Lifetime Member of VFW Post 1115 in Hillsville, VA. He enjoyed mowing the grass on his zero turn in the summer, playing solitaire    on his laptop while watching TV, and spending time with his grandchildren. Friendly and outgoing, he never met a stranger.

Funeral service will be conducted by his youngest brother, Rev. Neil J. Long, and flowers were provided by his cousin, Kathy Looney.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Neil Long officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardner Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel. Military Rites will be conducted by Hillsville V.F.W.
