Jerry Bachara of Barren Springs, VA was born 6/4/51 to Henry and Virginia in East Detroit, MI. He died May 21, 2014 outside on his farm in Barren Springs, VA on a beautiful day. He is survived by Cathy, his wife of 38 yrs, devoted son Jason, his brother Gary of Wilson, NC and a special cousin Denise Rottmann of Warren, MI. He moved to the mountains of VA in 1973 never to leave. He completed a Master's degree in Psychology at Radford College in 1975 and that same year, was employed as one of the original employees of SWVTC where became known for his ability to work with the disabled and his endearing personality. His years at the Training Center were remembered fondly where he developed very close friendships that continued throughout his life. Upon leaving he continued working with the disabled at Mt. Rogers Community Services Board and was employed part time by Carroll County Schools until 2004. Having grown up without pets, he discovered his love of animals; his first dog was a Dalmatian, Stan the Man. This sparked his love of animals and he enjoyed their company until his last day. He especially enjoyed our dairy goats, beef cattle and family pets. He felt he had been gifted with wonderful friends in Pot Rock and at his farm in Barren Springs. He cherished all of his friends that he had met through work and other endeavors; they helped make the wonderful life that he lived. He will always be remembered for his love and knowledge of vintage Rock and Roll, golf and outdoors. He lived a full and happy life with much laughter, unrivalled friendships and awesome music enjoyed in the company of great friends. A gathering of friends will be at Vaughn-Guynn, McGrady Chapel in Hillsville, VA on N. Main on Tuesday May27, 2014 from 6 - 8pm. Memorial contributions may be made to his favorite charities; the Twin County Humane Society, The Agape Food Pantry of Wytheville or the Barren Springs Volunteer Fire Department. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the Bachara family.
