Obituary

Janet Lavon Lintecum Rotenizer went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

Janet is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, "JD" James Dean Rotenizer. They were married on April 21, 1961 near Shatley Springs in North Carolina. They would often return there to celebrate their years together. Janet and J.D. raised their 4 children, Dreama, Myles, Mark and Deana among local churches and communities, lastly settling in a church and community in the Town of Hillsville. Janet accepted Jesus into her heart in October of 1967. She would want the world to know that Jesus Christ is the peace, comfort, the death, burial, and resurrection!

Janet was born on December 30, 1945, in Hillsville, Virginia to Rhesa and Forthe Lintecum. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Gerald Lintecum, among many additional loving family members.

Janet loved her family, enjoyed being Nanny to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spatting with and loving JD, avidly cooking, and serving in church nursery and as babysitter for local kids. Often times you could find her in the kitchen stringing green beans, making a ham sandwich, hollering "JD" or hollering the list of all the children and grandchildren's names until she called the right kid. If it were a pretty, sunny day you would find her sitting outside in a lawn chair or her and JD loading up a car full of kids with family and heading to the Parkway for a roadside picnic. So many days were spent with family, cooking and visiting.  It cannot be stressed enough how much one, God-fearing woman, could love her parents, husband, her children, son in law, daughters in laws, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She had trials and endured but she trusted God's plan. Janet was Wife, Mama, and Nanny. She was sassy and fun; and family and faith were her ultimate joys.

Janet is also survived by the family that her and JD love immensely.
