James Mitchell Weddle, 86, of Salem, Virginia passed peacefully on Thursday, August 16, 2012. He is predeceased by his parents, Sam and Emma Weddle; and brothers Burton and Roberts Weddle; and by his beloved sister Ruth. He is survived by his nephew Sam Weddle and Stephanie Zavar of Wilmington, NC; nephew Bruce Weddle and wife Carly, of Jacksonville, FL; and special niece Patsy Julian and her family, Tommy and wife, Shelia Grisso, and their two daughters, Olivia and Macey Grisso, all of Vinton, VA. Also surviving are cousins, Sue Vie, Jolene Lawrence, and Betty Gene Warf, all of North Carolina; Joe and Cathy Weddle, and Bill Weddle. Special thanks go to his loving caregivers Tina Goad, Sherry Callahan, and Connie Bond of Roanoke. James was a long-time teacher and counselor of 40 years in the public schools of Virginia and Maryland. He is a graduate of William and Mary College, and received his Masters in Education from Virginia Tech. While at William and Mary College, James performed several summers in the highly reviewed drama "The Common Glory". The Common Glory Choir made several concert tours receiving rave reviews. There will be a family and friends gathering on Monday, August 20th, from 11:00 - 11:45 A.M. at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with a graveside service at the family plot in the North End Cemetery at 12:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
