James Glenn Tanner, 71 years old, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015 in his home in Woodlawn, VA. He was born in Sacramento, CA and, being a son of an Army officer and his wife, he experienced life in Germany, Japan and various cities in the US. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Greensboro College. Music played a major role in his life. He played piano, organ and accordian and had a beautiful voice. He would play and sing for hours with his children. Jim never missed an opportunity to entertain his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Beverly Tanner and his grandson, Garrett Aman. He is survived by his siblings, Larry Tanner (Sue), Sheila Tanner Rockholt (Robert), Sarah Tanner Walsh and Sharon Tanner Adkins (Ray), his children, Stephanie Tanner King (Gaylon), Rebecca Tanner, Patricia Winston Tanner Aman (Chris), Paul Tanner (April), David Tanner and Jacob Tanner, his 11 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Out of the Box Worship Center 516 N Main St Hillsville VA 24343 or to the American Diabetes Association.
