James M. Jimmy Griffin, 67 of Woodlawn, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Duke University Hospital. Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his mother Elsie Gaynell Griffin. He is survived by his wife Betty Jo King Griffin of the home; son & daughter-in-law Mike & Deana Griffin of Wytheville; father & step-mother Elmer & Elsie Griffin of Hillsville; brother & sister-in-law Kenny & Mary Jane Griffin of Galax; grandchildren Drew Griffin and Ashley Denae Griffin both of Wytheville; and sisters-in-law & spouses Nancy Morris of Hillsville and Barbara & Bill Slate of Galax. Mr. Griffin retired from R.A.A.P. after 39 years of service.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Pastor Titus Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
