James Thomas Phillips, 64 of Fancy Gap, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem, NC. Mr. Phillips was born in Fancy Gap, VA to the late C. Dallas & Bessie Rigney Phillips. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Joyce Gardner Phillips. He is survived by his children Clark Shockley of Mt. Airy, NC, Teresa Phillips of Mocksville, NC, Sherry Shockley Burrow of Winston Salem, NC, Eric Phillips of Charlotte, NC, Holly Isaacs of Galax and Wendi R. Phillips of Woodlawn; grandchildren Christine Burrow, Airel Phillips, Zane Shockley, Cody Burrow, Chase Isaacs, Destiny Shockley, Jordon Elliott, Canaan Dixon and Jacob Dixon; special extended family Terri Beverly and Allen Dixon; and siblings Dallas Phillips, Jr. of Charlotte, NC, Shelby Hinson of Mt. Airy, NC and Sue Dodson of Eden, NC.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Ray Bolen officiating. Burial will follow in Gardner Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
