James Michael Perdue

James Michael Perdue, 38 of Fancy Gap, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026 at the VA Medical Center in Salem. Mr. Perdue was born in Welch, WV on September 22, 1987. He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, James Allen and Sylvia Perdue; paternal grandparents, Homer and Bonnie Perdue; maternal great-grandparents, Roosevelt and Elizabeth Farley and Nancy Green; and many other family members.

James was known for his patriotism and love of his country and served in the US Army where he was honorably discharged in June of 2007. He was loved by the many lives he touched and will be missed greatly by his family and all who knew him.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Wilma Jean and Mark Hooker; brother, Jeremy Perdue (Sarah); sisters, Kayla Day (Dakota) and Devan Smith (Brandon); grandmothers, Alice Hooker and Wilma Green; nieces and nephews, Ella Perdue, Wyatt Perdue, Harper Perdue, Charley Day, Seth Smith and Emma Smith; several aunts and uncles; and many special friends. James loved all his family and especially enjoyed the wonderful moments with his nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Chaplain Evan Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilkinson Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
