James Harlett (Jim) Padgett, 78, of Hillsville passed away on May 5, 2007 at his home. Mr. Padgett was a retired employee of the Town Of Hillsville. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Q. Padgett of the home, daughter & son-in-law Marie & Jerry Lawson of Galax; son & daughter-in-law; Gerald & Carolyn Handy of Hillsville; brothers; Ottie Padgett, Guy Padgett, Don Padgett; sister & brother-in-law, Erthyl & Clevo Dalton; sister-in-law Betty Padgett all of Hillsville. Grandchildren Regina Handy, Travis Handy; several nieces & nephews also survive.

Services will be conducted on Monday, May 7, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with the Rev. Michael D. Shockley & Rev. Ronald W. Kronk officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardner Memorial Cemetery in Hillsville. The family will receive friends on Sunday May 6, 2007 from 6 8 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel in Hillsville. The family asks that In Lieu of Flowers Donations be made to Twin Co. Hospice P.O. Box 106 Galax, Va. 24333 Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
