James Ernest Martin, 75 of Dugspur, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Novant Forsyth Medical Center.  Mr. Martin was born in Carroll County, Virginia on June 10, 1950 to the late Ernest Walker and Mellie Luvenia Goad Martin.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Daphne Susan Strickland Martin.

Survivors include his children, Lisa Hall (Harold), Jill Barrett (Tony), and James Martin (Priscilla Otey); brother, Fred Martin (Marilyn); grandchildren, Jacob Hall (Ashley), Isaac Hall (Emily), Tyler Barrett, Jared Hall (Annie), and Lillie Barrett; great-grandchildren, Aiden Hall, Heath Hall, Tatum Hall, and one on the way; partner and friend, Paulette Banks; and special pet, Blue, AKA "Kitty".

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady at 1:00 PM with Jacob Hall and Tyler Barrett officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 until 1:00 PM prior to the memorial service.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
