James E. (Jimmy) Briggs, 75 of Galax, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at the Harmony House. Mr. Briggs is survived by his daughter & son-in-law Vicky & Gary Alli of Roanoke; son & daughter-in-law Wayne & Candy Briggs of Watertown, NY; three grandchildren Garry Alli, Jr., Michael Haupt and Wayne Briggs; sisters & brother-in-law Florence Collins of Salem, VA and Darlene & Ronald Thomas of Meadow View, VA; brothers & sisters-in-law Russell & Myrtle Briggs of Roanoke, Rev. John & Zona Briggs of Woodlawn, Paul & Joann Briggs of Waynesboro, VA, Tommy & Carolyn Briggs of Hillsville, Rev. Bobby & Dot Briggs of Glade Springs, VA, and Billy & Linda Briggs of Marion, VA; a host of nieces and nephews; and a special friend Gilbert Lawson of Austinville.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2007 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Herman Jay Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the Pickett Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
