James Leonard Hutchens, 83, of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at his home. Mr. Hutchens was born in Carroll County to the late George Clyde and Ocie Bell Beasley Hutchens. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Damon Hutchens and Vincent Gale Hutchens and a sister, Janet Wilkins.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Parnell Hutchens of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, James M. and Lisa Hutchens and Christopher B. Hutchens all of Hillsville; brothers and sister-in-law, Roger and Nina Sue Hutchens of Galax and Larry Hutchens of Austinville; sister-in-law, Linda Hutchens; brother-in-law, Don Wilkins; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Mr. Danny Beasley and Pastor Mike Wells officiating. Burial will follow in the Parnell Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
