On Saturday, October 8, 2022, James "Larry" Funk left home for the last time. This time he didn't even have to lace up his work boots.

He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Kathy Funk. Theirs was a wild and crazy ride but they wouldn't have changed a thing. His daughters and their husbands, Terri and Brock Gillespie and Jessica and Michael Edwards, will make sure to take care of their mom and continue to tattle-tale on each other.

Larry will be terribly missed by his precious grandchildren; Brooklyn Jade, Jackson Anthony, Ember Lynn, Mason Larry, and Jace Fallyn. They loved their papa who doted on them and let them get away with way more than they ever should have. Larry might have looked tough on the outside, but when it came to the grandchildren, he was a big softy.

Larry is also survived by his mother, Nellie Funk. She taught him to be strong from the start as she delivered him on the kitchen floor. His brothers and sisters will also miss him; Tommy & Connie Thompson, William Funk, Emma & Bill Jarrett, Patricia Lovejoy, and Donnie Funk.

He will also be missed by his mother-in-law Bobbie Fender, many other family members, and numerous friends. Larry touched many with his loud laugh. He couldn't be missed in a crowd.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 5:00 PM.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4:00 until 5:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the family for expenses.
