James Earl Fields, 48 of Hillsville, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014 at his home. James was born in Richlands, VA to the late Richard Ellis Fields and Mary Ann Arnold Fields. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Fields of the home; children, Jamie Acosta of Rocky Mount, Brady Fields of Blue Ridge, Hope Horton, Grace Horton, Elizabeth Brooks, and Tommy Horton all of Hillsville, and Kristen Desmond of Wytheville; brothers, Robert Fields of Roanoke, William Fields of North Carolina, Eugene Griffith, and Roy Griffith both of Rocky Mount; special nephew, Robert "Little Man" Fields; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Sky View Missionary Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor Wendell Horton and Mr. Robert Fields officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sky View Missionary Baptist Church 129 Skyview Drive, Fancy Gap, VA 24328. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
