James Golden Davis, Sr., 57 of Roanoke, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mr. Davis was born in Carroll County to the late Woodrow & Carrie Gravley Davis. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife Ethel Ingo Davis; five brothers George, Bob, Will, Lester and Ray Davis and grandson James Davis, III. He is survived by his daughters & sons-in-law Carrie & Robert Woodie and Sarah & David Able all of Pulaski; son James G. Davis, Jr. of Pulaski; special friend Juanita Knott; brothers & sisters-in-law Larry & Shirley Davis of Max Meadows, Daniel Davis of Carroll County, Benny & Patty Davis of Wythe County and Richard Davis of Pulaski; sisters-in-law Martha Davis of Newbern, Juanita Davis of Dublin, Teresa Davis of Parott and Melinda Davis of Pulaski; and seven grandchildren Oceana Woodie, Ariel Woodie, Robert Woodie, Jr., Brandon Davis, Jordan Davis, Miranda Davis and Seirra Davis.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at Shiloh United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. David Guynn officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Saturday night from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
