James "Al" Alton Williams, 85 of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Commonwealth Senior Living in Hillsville.  Mr. Williams was born in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Earnest and Grace Patton Williams.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Jean Cox and Doris Jones.

Mr. Williams was a loving and devoted husband, brother, uncle and friend.  He was a life-time member of the Church of Christ.  Al retired from Newport News Ship Building in 1998 and he was an avid golfer.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Williams; siblings Doug Williams (Shelby), Sharon Smith, and Linda Sandy; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Commonwealth Senior Living and Medi Hospice nurses and staff. Their care and compassion were wonderful and very much appreciated by the whole family.
