Jacob Ray "J.R." Parnell, 80, of Austinville passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015 at Heritage Hall Laurel Meadows in Laurel Fork, VA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Gaye Parnell; parents, Carl and Elva Rotenizer Parnell. Survivors include his son, Alan Parnell and fiancé Teresa Cox of Austinville; two daughters, Karen Triplett of Woodlawn, and Lana Kennedy and fiancé Junior Landreth of Austinville; three brothers, Stanley Parnell of Maryland, Foster Parnell of Draper, and Arles Parnell of Sylvatus; three sisters, Alene Lawson, Carol Dalton, and Joyce Lovell all of Austinville; four grandchildren and spouses, Jennifer Bowman and husband Gary, Megan Ring and husband Chris, Destiny Harmon and husband Jayson, and Tyler Parnell; four great grandchildren, Maddox Bowman, Lyric Bowman, Jacob Bryar Harmon, and Kendall Ring. Several special nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Coulson Church of the Brethren with Brother Russell Payne and Brother Harry Shelton, and Brother Hal Sonafrank officiating. Burial will follow in the Coulson Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Coulson Church of the Brethren on Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the Parnell family.
