Jacob Matthew Graham Hill, 37, of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2015. Jacob was born in Roanoke, VA on May 17, 1977. Jacob received the North Carolina Mathematics and Science Award and was a 1995 honor graduate of North Surry High School. He received an Associate Degree from Surry Community College in 1997 in Mathematics and in 2004 from Radford University in Science and Math and was a member of the American University of Who's Who. While in college he tutored students in Math and later received his M.E.D. in Counseling from Radford University. Jacob worked on repairing old muscle cars and auctioneering and completed Mendhell Hall and passed the exam for his Virginia's Auctioneer License. He worked at Buzzards Roost Auction House from 2006 until present. He loved playing his guitar and writing music with his brother. Jacob loved rock and roll, heavy metal, antiques, reading, writing, old muscle cars and lifting weights. Survivors include his mother, Dr. Stevie Margret DePrisco of Hillsville; brother and spouse, Jordan Marshall and Martina Hill of Hillsville; maternal aunt, Daphne Gary of Hillsville; maternal uncle, Sgt. Major Herbert L. More and wife, Bernice Grace More of Texas; paternal aunt, Angela Hill of Galax; great aunt, Pearl Hill Stoneman; and several cousins, friends and dogs. Jacob was preceded in death by his father, John Michael Hill of Ararat, VA; his paternal grandparents, Gladys Stoneman Hill and Morris Hill originally from Carroll County; and great grandparents Cloyd and Minie Stoneman; and paternal great uncles Howard and Mae Stoneman, Malcolm Stoneman all from Carroll County. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 3:00 PM with Pastor Richard Barton officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM prior to the service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
