J. Wayne Roberts, 85 of Woodlawn, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Atrium Health Cabarrus.  Wayne lived his life full of care for his family and enthusiasm for his work.  Born in 1938 to Cornelius and Thelma (Belcher) Roberts, he was raised in Lanett, Alabama along with his brother David. Wayne joined and served in the Air Force from May 1957 until October 1960 in California and various locations of the South Pacific.

In July 1977, Wayne and Sandy (Funk) Roberts were married in South Carolina.  They continued to live and travel with his work developing real estate and selling log homes across the Carolina's and Virginia.  They eventually returned to Sandy's home and settled in the mountains of Virginia to be close to family.

Their children:  Angela Roberts Harrison –St Simons Island, GA; Christy Roberts Casciello – New Bern, NC; Jack Wayne (Tracey Cardwell) Roberts Jr.- Crozet, VA; Mark (Melissa) Ward – Greenville, SC; and Chris (Renee) Ward- Hillsville, VA.

Their grandchildren: Taylor Ward, Emily Harrison, Matt Ward, Lucy Roberts, George Casciello, Micaela Ward, Logan Ward, Maggie Ward, Banks Harrison, Celia Casciello,  Cole Ward, Jack Roberts, and Coleman Harrison.

Wayne's life will be celebrated at 3:30pm on Saturday November 11, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church, 225 Fulcher Street, Hillsville, VA 24343. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
