Inez Horton Goad, 79 of Hillsville, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2011 at Heritage Hall-Laurel Meadows. Mrs. Goad was born June 11, 1931 to the Lahue McKinley and Mary Alderman Horton. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Barney Goad and her brothers and sisters. Mrs. Goad became a teachers aide in 1966. She was a graduate of Wytheville Community College and then Radford College in 1976. She taught K-3 and then went on to specialize in teaching children with learning disabilities. Survivors include daughter Anita Walls of Hillsville; wonderful grandson Austin Roy Walls of Hillsville; special niece Betty Cook of Princeton, WV; and special caregivers Amanda Ashton, Tina Dehaven, Julia Edmonds, and Cindy Vaughn.

As she requested, there will be no funeral or visitation. A private burial will be in Monta Vista Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations for education may be sent to Austin Walls 2286 Gladesboro Road, Hillsville, VA 24343.
