Ilene J. Whitt, 93, of Woodlawn, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Trinity Mission of Hillsville. Mrs. Whitt was born in Carroll County to the late Riley and Laura Blanche R. Jennings. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Conley Whitt; brothers, Willie Jennings, Clayton Jennings, and James Jennings; and son-in-law, John Joyce. Survivors include her daughter, Glenna W. Joyce of Woodlawn; sister, Kathleen Lawson of Galax; grandson and spouse, James and Crystal Joyce of Hillsville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jason Simpkins and Pastor Amanda Hatfield Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Dalton Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
