Ila Mae Goad Shumate, 100 of Hillsville, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2009 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mrs. Shumate was born in Carroll County to the late Adam & Sarah Dove Nester Goad. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John Shumate. She is survived by her daughter Anita Shupe of Hillsville; son Johnny Joe Shumate of Hillsville; three grandchildren Terry Shupe of Dublin, Jerry Shupe of Galax, and Joe Shumate of Hillsville; four great grandchildren Grayson Lineberry, Amanda Martin, Jackson Shumate and Jonathan Shumate; and two great-great grandchildren Jordan Martin and Andrew Martin.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 10:30 AM with Pastor Chip Neely officiating. Burial will follow in Bolen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dalton Hill Christian Church P.O.
