Icie Bowman Turner, 78 of Galax, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mrs. Turner was born in Carroll County to the late Swanson & Nanny Bowman. In addition to her parents Mrs. Turner was also preceded in death by six brothers and one sister. She is survived by her husband John M. Turner of the home; daughter Shelia Y. Turner of Knoxville, TN; brother & sister-in-law Ivan & Laura Bowman of Hillsville; sisters & brothers-in-law Vicie & Everett Smith, Jr. of Hillsville, Bonnie & Robert Bowman of Hillsville, and Barbara Hawks of Mount Airy, NC; and two grandchildren Danielle and Stephanie.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Galax at 2:00 PM with Dr. Winford Hendrix and Rev. Eric Black officiating. Burial will follow in the Turner-Duncan Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, January 16, 2010 from 1:00 until 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to the charity of your choice.
