Howard Mason Thomas, 58, of Austinville, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at his home. Mr. Thomas was born in Galax, Virginia to Reeford Mason and Peggy Jackson Thomas. In addition to his parents he is also survived by his wife, Norma Lewis Thomas of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Cassandra and Jesse Patrick of Hillsville; sons and daughter-in-law, Cody and Amanda Thomas of Hillsville and Derek Thomas of Austinville; sisters and brother-in-law, Cathy and Jim Frazier and Brenda Coleman all of Austinville; mother-in-law, Mildred Christine Lewis; sisters-in-law and spouse, Teresa and Stephen Dalton and Dana Goad; special niece, Pam Billings; special cousin, Kenneth Thomas; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Rev. Betsy King and Pastor Theron Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the Allen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 2, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
