Howard Lucas Melton, 85, of Hillsville, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mr. Melton was born in West Virginia to the late Floyd Oscar and Lacy Runyon Melton on November 18, 1926. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Ella Ruth Melton. Survivors include his son Richard Melton of New York; sister Reba Stone of Max Meadows; brother James Melton of Florida; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister-in-law Christine Worrell Huff; brothers-in-law Elton (Hap) Worrell, Charles (Bud) Worrell, and Jim Worrell; and special nieces Betty Blair and Joann Barber. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 1:00 PM with Pastor Russell Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardner Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00 until 1:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
