Herman Michael Nester, 80 of Hillsville, Virginia, died on June 19, 2023 at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax, Virginia after a prolonged illness. Herman worked for APAC Road Construction and Vecillio & Grogan for many years. He was loved by his family and friends and will be missed.

Herman is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Lee and Fannie Nester, as well as his older brother Wayne Dale Nester.

He is survived by his sister Mary Curto of Bluefield, West Virginia, as well as two nephews, Tony Curto and Michael Nester and one niece Susan Nester-Huebner.

Herman spent many hours woodworking, gardening and learning to play the guitar.

Herman requested that no funeral services be held. Close family members will have a Celebration of Life Service at a later date. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
