Herbert Green Mabry, 82 of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at his home. Mr. Mabry was born in Allisonia, VA to the late James and Lucy Viola Wright Mabry. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Bowman and brother, Connie Mabry.

Herbert was known to many as "HG" ,"Sarg" and "Tank". He graduated from Welch High School in 1954. He then enlisted in the Army in 1959 and served until 1965 when he was honorably discharged as an E-5 Sergeant. He volunteered at the Kimball Volunteer Fire Department. He worked at Bata Shoe Company in Maryland. HG then began his career with the Radford Arsenal. He has spent the last several years of his life in Hillsville, Va.

He is survived by a host of nieces and nephews who would like to thank the many caregivers and neighbors who took such great care of him.

A graveside service with military rites conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Grover King Post 1115, will be held at Liberty Hill Cemetery on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 1:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
