Helen Winesett Newman, 87 of Hillsville, passed away Friday, June 29, 2007 in Hillsville. Mrs. Newman was born on August 31, 1919 in Carroll County to Oscar B. & Bessie Landreth Winesett. She was preceded in death by her husband Glen Newman; sisters Obediah W. Litteral and Mabel W. Harmon and brother John L. Winesett. Mrs. Newman is survived by her son & daughter-in-law J.B. & Linda Newman of Hillsville; sisters Margie Winesett Lundy of Galax, Mary Lee Winesett Combs of Fayetteville, NC and June Winesett Sumner of Santee, SC; two grandchildren John Newman and Beth Dalton; and four great grandchildren Laura Beth Dalton, Noah Newman, Tabitha Lynn Dalton and Hallie Shea Newman.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 2, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Coulson Church of the Brethren with Rev. Russell Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Coulson Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
