Helen Lorene McCraw, 65 of Fancy Gap, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at her home. Ms. McCraw was born in Carroll County to the late Robert Hill and Ellie Upchurch Hill. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Olen McCraw; son Jason Ray McCraw; brothers Arwood Hill, Deral Hill and Woody Hill; and sister-in-law Mabel Bryant. She is survived by her children and their spouses Denise and Dewayne Brown of Fancy Gap, Marie McCraw of Fancy Gap, and Sandra and Darrell Dickenson of Fancy Gap; brothers and sisters-in-law Carlos and Thelma Bryant of Mount Airy, NC, Harley and Esther Bryant of Fancy Gap, and Arlos Bryant of Fancy Gap; special sister Allie Staples; special family Tony, Linda, and Marianna Palumbo; fifteen grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Independence Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Hawks and Rev. Leroy Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in the Independence Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, October 29, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
