Helen Lee Dickerson Vass, 83 of Hillsville, died Sunday, June 11, 2017. Mrs. Vass was born on May 30, 1934 in Hillsville, VA to Jonah Lincoln Dickerson and Laura Adeline Martin. In addition to her parents, brothers and sisters, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen M. Vass and her son, Clinton Jonah Vass.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann Vass Dalton (William Nelson) of Hillsville and Carol Lynn Vass McMillian (Roger) of Galax; two sons, Franklin and Angela (Smythers) Vass and Glenn M. Vass all of Hillsville; three grandsons, Robert Wayne and Christy Dalton of Newport News, Joseph Aaron and Kristie (Smith) Dalton of Fries, Anthony Lee McMillian of Galax; granddaughter, Katie Vass Anders (Brian) of Hillsville; three great grandsons, Logan X. Dalton, Joshue Dalton, and Jayden Smith; one great granddaughter, Harmony Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 2:00 PM with at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Dr. David McPherson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain Plains Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
