Obituary

***This is a courtesy announcement for the family of Mrs. Shupe**

Helen Mae Cress Shupe age 91, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021, at the home of her daughter Janice Bunn of Fancy Gap, surrounded by her daughters and family.

Helen was born in Atkins, VA to the late Carl J. Cress and Nettie Geneva Cress. She is also preceded in death by her husband Cecil E. Shupe; brother Grant W. Cress; two sons Kenneth D. Shupe and Ronald E. Shupe; granddaughter Tammy Shupe; special friend Edith Robinette; and special nephew Bill Cress.

Helen worked many years at the Rural Retreat Garment Factory. She then started babysitting children in her home, as well as working at the daycare at Marion First Church of God. Helen was a faithful dedicated member of the Atkins First Church of God. There she was a Sunday school teacher, song leader, President of the Ladies WCG, and numerous other roles.

Survivors include her three daughters Janice Bunn (Eddie), Carol Welch (late husband Mike), and Trish Lambert (David); 12 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; two nieces; and a nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at the Atkins First Church of God with Elder Eddie Bunn and Reverend David Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00PM on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the Atkins First Church of God. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com .
