Helen Dorthy Chappell, 77, of Hillsville passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax, VA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roosevelt Wise Chappell; parents, Fred and Dorthus Shumate Woods; brother, Alvin Woods; sisters, Georgia Parnell, Margie Shupe, and Annie Ayers.

She is survived by her two sons, Jeff Chappell and Wayne Chappell both of the home; brother, Friel Woods of Thomasville, NC; sister-in-law, Blanche Woods of Woodlawn, VA; brother-in-law, James Chappell and wife Barbara of Fancy Gap, VA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Gerald Tilley officiating. Burial will follow in the Worrell Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the Chappell family.
