Helen V. Branscome, age 88, of Hillsville passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, July 15, 2012. She was the daughter of the late James Pell and Pearl Snow Branscome of Hillsville. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by a sister, Emma Nell Woods and brother-in-law Mark Woods, and a brother, Walton Branscome. Surviving is a brother, Morris Branscome and sister-in-law, Ann Branscome of Hillsville; two nieces, Debbie Blackwell of Winston-Salem, NC, and Cathy Hamm (and husband James) of Oak Ridge, NC; three nephews, Steve Woods (and wife Tammy) of Mt. Sydney, VA, John Branscome of Washington, DC, and David Branscome (and wife Elizabeth) of Tallahassee, FL; four great nephews (Andrew Blackwell, Zachary Woods, Mark Woods and Wesley Hamm) and two great nieces (Monica Blackwell and Missy Hamm). Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Maria Grimm officiating. Burial will follow in the Morris Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, July 19, 2012 from 6 until 8 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
