Hazel Jennings Nester, 102 of Schertz, Texas, died July 2, 2010 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in Carroll County, Virginia on May 16, 1908 to Luther and Nancy Jennings. Hazel was the owner operator of the Waverite Beauty Shop in Hillsville, VA for many decades. She relocated to Texas, on her 101st birthday. Surviving are two sons Leonard Nester of Texas, and Mason Nester, Sr. of Virginia; a daughter Jean Levin of Maryland; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother Theron Jennings of Richmond, IN and one sister Cassie Carlton of Hillsville. A Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, July 05, 2010 at Schertz Funeral Home. Anyone so desiring may send memorial donations to the Alzheimers Association, P.O. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 09, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Pastor Ty Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardner Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, July 08, 2010 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
