Hazel B. Fariss, 83 of Hillsville, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Wheatland Retirement Center. Ms. Fariss was preceded in death by her husband Carl Fariss, brothers Harry Blaine Banks and Chester Banks; sister Oleta Banks Kieffer; grandson Mitchell Lee Fariss; and great granddaughter Evelyn (Evie) Grier Fariss. She is survived by her children & spouses Jim & Karen Fariss of Roanoke, VA and Greg & Kathryn Fariss of Hillsville, VA; grandchildren & spouses Todd & Sarah Fariss, of Frisco, TX, Kellie & Alan Worrell of Austinville, VA, Tim Fariss & Blythe Dillon of Charlotte, NC, Sarah Fariss Mahone of Williamsburg, VA Jenna Fariss of Winston Salem, NC and Mary Beth & Phil Dick of Salem, VA; four great grandchildren; and brothers & sisters & spouses Cosby Horton of Fancy Gap, Arlene Meredith of Hillsville, Rubye Webb of Midlothian, VA, Early & Jean Banks of Low Gap, NC, Tommy & Lorna Banks of Leeds, AL, Mary Alice & Clyde Dalton of Virginia Beach, VA and Jo Ann & Bill Sechler of Horseshoe, NC.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Pastor Bobby Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the Heath Banks Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
